LEEDS CASTLE, DOVER, CANTERBURY & GREENWICH Plus Thames River cruise TOUR 7 (Full day)Leeds Castle - A private visit prior to the castle opening to the public. The loveliest castle in the world, set in the middle of a lake and surrounded by beautifully landscaped gardens, Leeds Castle became known as Lady's Castle, because of the number of Queens of England who lived there. It is also renowned for its unique museum of dog collars and aviary of unusual birds.
Canterbury and its Cathedral - Canterbury is England's ecclesiastical capital, where St. Thomas Beckett, then Archbishop of Canterbury, was murdered in 1170. Beckett's Shrine in the Cathedral became the goal of the ‘Canterbury Pilgrims' and the town prospered on this early form of tourism.
The White Cliffs of Dover - Finally to Dover, renowned for its great stretch of white chalk cliffs and castle after a brief stop on the sea front from which we may even see the coast of France. We return to London traveling past the Channel Tunnel entrance.

Paris – You arrive at the Gare du Nord station where you will be met by our guide for a fully-guided panoramic tour of the city. You will see all the major sights, including the Champs-Elysées, Eiffel Tower, Arc de Triomphe and Notre Dame.
River Cruise & the Eiffel Tower – Next is a unique hour-long cruise, starting from the Eiffel Tower, which brings Paris to life with words and music. Aboard a glass-sided boat you will enjoy stunning views of the monuments along the banks of the Seine. Entrance to the Eiffel Tower includes a ride to the second floor, from where you will enjoy equally spectacular, but completely different, views of Paris.
Louvre and Da Vinci Trail – This afternoon we will visit the Louvre. During your visit the mysteries of the Da Vinci Code will be revealed through the Leonardo de Vinci masterpiece, The Joconda, as well as several paintings from the Italian Renaissance, focusing on the story of Saint Jean Baptiste and Maria Magdalena.

DA VINCI TRAIL IN EDINBURGH Day 1 - You will depart from London's Kings Cross Station at 7.00am, with reserved seats for the train to Edinburgh, arriving at 11.36am. LINCOLN CATHEDRAL – This magnificent Gothic cathedral is surrounded by medieval cobbled streets in a beautiful city which dates back over 2,000 years. The Chapter House and Nave were used to recreate Westminster Abbey in the film, and there is now an exhibition featuring photographs, drawings and props from the filming including actual set pieces used to film the scene involving Sir Isaac Newton’s tomb. Our tour will give you the inside track on this part of the making of the movie. After this short visit, you will be returned to Newark station for your return journey to London, arriving in Kings X at approx 8.45pm. DA VINCI IN EDINBURGH Mysteries of Rossllyn Chapel (A coach tour visiting Rosslyn Chapel)Passing Holy rood Palace, Dynamic Earth and the new Parliament building, we drive through the Queens Park with its three lochs, and over Arthur's Seat, Britain's largest volcano, where James Hutton (the father of modern geology) devised his theories. We head south around Puddingstone Kirk to Craig Millar Castle. Much loved and visited by Mary Queen of Scots, this magnificent, partially ruined castle is a favorite with everyone including Historic Scotland who has presented the custodian with a top award for content, presentation and service. This is where the plot to assassinate Mary's husband Lord Darnel was hatched and where The Earl of Mar (brother to James III) was imprisoned and declared insane by his brother.
Entrance is included to the castle that belonged to the Preston's, often Lord Provosts of Edinburgh in the 15th and 16th centuries. Abandoned by the Gilmore’s in the 1770's it is the finest example of a medieval tower house in the Lothian’s and also has the best views. |
