Bird Watching and Sea Lion Experience at El Farallon Rock Nature Sanctuary

Duration: 7 Hours

Take a yacht to see El Farallon rock, an island out in the clear blue waters of the Sea of Cortez, and cruise to a mid-ocean ecosystem to see birds and get close to hundreds of sea lions. In winter, it is common to spot migrating whales. You’ll have time for swimming and snorkeling at the island.

Waterfall Trail and Tarahumara Indian Girls’ Boarding SchoolDuration: 4 Hours

Choosing either a walking or horse tour, follow a trail that will take you inside a canyon full of beautiful flora and to a magnificent waterfall. Continue on to El Tehuecado, the Tarahumara Indian boarding school for girls next to the Hotel Mision.

Urique Canyon Lookout PointDuration: 3 Hours

Standing at 7,500 feet, the Urique River Canyon is the deepest and most photographed of all canyons. Nestled below the canyon is an 18th century silver mining village. Along this winding ride, you’ll see different kinds of pine trees and local fauna, and will visit a Tarahumara family in their cave home where you can buy crafts and visit the Virgin Mary spring.

Excursion to Legendary Urique

Ascend to 7,500 feet to the Gallego Lookout Point and appreciate the grandeur of the Urique Canyon. Next you’ll descend 1590 feet to an 18th century silver and gold mining town established in 1724, forgotten by time and modern civilization.

Visit the charming town of Creel and see its plaza. Continue on to Arareko Lake and see the mysterious rock formations of the Valley of the Mushrooms. Finally, you’ll visit the old Jesuit Mission of San Ignacio and interact with Tarahumara Indians in their cave homes.

Travel to the historic bay of Topolobampo founded by North American settlers that came in the late 1800’s with the idea of establishing a socialistic utopian community. Arrive at the yacht club and enjoy a relaxing 2 hour cruise aboard one of the safe and comfortable 42 foot yachts. The captain will take you close by the playful dolphins that abound in the bay and play near the boat. Then, you will cruise around Bird Island where you will see hundreds of different species of birds and you will be able to get close to untamed nature.

Upon returning to the pier, your guide will take you on a scenic 2 hour tour around the city of Los Mochis, founded a century ago. Over the years, this area has become a very productive agricultural region in Mexico.

Birdwatching & Sea Lion Experience at El Farallon Rock Nature Sanctuary

Duration: 7 hours

El Farallon Rock is an island out in the clear blue waters of the Sea of Cortez where you will cruise on a 42 foot yacht early in the morning. You will embark at Topolobampo Bay, about 20 minutes from Los Mochis.

On this magnificent 2 hour cruise you will be in a mid ocean eco-system where you can see different kinds of birds and get close to hundreds of sea lions in their natural habitat. Swimming and snorkeling at the island is a real experience. In the winter season it is common to spot whales migrating from the north seas to more temperate waters. We suggest you reserve a box lunch and drink a day prior to departure.
